Winter at Carinya Byron Bay
Stay on a beautiful rural property with sweeping hinterland views, just ten minutes from beaches and Bangalow.
Winter up here has its own rhythm. Mild sunny days, cool evenings, misty mornings over the valley. The region quiets down, the light changes, and there's a reason locals say it's their favourite time of year.
Why Stay in Winter?
There's a version of Byron that most visitors don't see, and winter is it. The crowds ease off, the weather stays mild, and the whole place settles into something slower and more comfortable.
Mornings at Carinya are particularly good in winter - mist in the valley early, birds loud in the trees, warm enough to sit out on the deck with a coffee. By afternoon the hinterland is golden and the drive into town feels easy.
It's also whale season. The humpbacks move north through June and July, and the Cape Byron Lighthouse walk on a clear morning is hard to beat.
Designed with Families in Mind
Each of our two-bedroom villas sleeps up to four, with open living that flows onto a private deck overlooking the hills. It's a comfortable base for a few days away, beach in the morning, space to unwind in the afternoon.
The property itself feels peaceful and tucked away, and farm tours may be available during your stay, depending on weather and availability.
Close to Everything, but Quiet
The property is in Talofa, a quiet stretch of hinterland between Byron Bay and Bangalow. Byron's beaches, restaurants and cafes are 10 minutes away. Bangalow, with its good coffee, weekend market and easy pace - is about seven minutes down the road.
If you're flying in, Ballina Byron Gateway Airport is a 25-minute drive, and Gold Coast Airport is around 50 minutes. We'd recommend hiring a car, having your own wheels makes the whole trip easier, and the hinterland drives are part of the experience.
The setting is peaceful and private, but you're never far from town when you want it.
Planning to Stay Together?
With six villas on the property, Carinya works well for extended families, wedding parties, or friends travelling together. Each villa sleeps four (a queen and twin singles), so the property can accommodate up to 24 guests in total - each group with their own private space, kitchen and deck.
You're spread out enough to have your own pace, but close enough to gather for meals and time outdoors. If you're considering booking multiple villas, get in touch directly - we can talk through availability and whether a group discount applies.
