There is something for everyone in Byron Bay and the surrounding area. Here are a few of our favourite places and activities for you to check out.

Eat & Drink: Bangalow

WOODS: Is a charming cafe nestled in the heart of Bangalow, serving up delicious meals and specialty coffee all day long. The menu focuses on locally-sourced, organic ingredients. The savoury crumpets are not to be missed.

You Beauty: Led by a top Australian chef, this bistro deliveries elevated pub-style dining, on the main street of Bangalow. If you are lucky you might be able to grab a table.

Sparrow Coffee Co: If you are in need of a quick coffee fix, Sparrow is your answer. With convenient locations in both Bangalow and Byron Bay.

Ciao Mate: A Italian restaurant in Bangalow. Great pizza & pasta (mushroom pizza is a must if they have it on the menu) and the stracciatella is delicious. It books out fast, so I suggest booking early. They also do takeaway pizza for pick up if you want to have dinner back in your Villa.

Butcher Baker: Great burgers and sandwiches. Their speciality is their chocolate filled donuts.

The Bangalow Bowlo: It's the local spot for a laid-back drink and bistro meal.

Mangosteen Bangalow: Japanese cafe hidden behind the Corner Store in Bangalow. A locals favourite for a quick lunch or takeaway, open from Tues - Saturday. The veggie tempura sushi & their daily salad specials are our go-to.

Eat & Drink: Byron Bay

Bayleaf: Kickstart your day at Bayleaf with favourites like scrambled eggs with chili & feta. Pair with a refreshing coconut cold brew for true a locals experience.

Light Years Byron Bay: A must-visit in the new Jonson Lane precinct, Light Years dazzles with firecracker chicken and prawn toast. A trendy spot, perfect for great food and cocktails.

Bar Heather: A must-visit natural wine bar in Byron Bay that boasts a reputation for serving only the best. You can be sure that each glass poured is carefully selected and of the highest quality.

Roadhouse: A local favourite, Roadhouse offers daytime cafe service and Friday night pizza. Purple Haze or The Layla pizzas are our favorites, available for takeaway.

Orgasmic Falafel: Tucked away behind the Beach Hotel, Orgasmic Falafel serves up satisfying falafels and pita pockets. A longtime gem, enjoy their classic falafel, and make sure to try the half pocket option.

Bonito: Located in the new 5-star Hotel Marvell, the kitchen is dedicated to sourcing the freshest local produce and sustainable treasures from the sea. If you're eager to check out Byron Bay's latest 'it spot' while enjoying a delectable dining experience, be sure to reserve a table.

The Mez Club: A Mediterranean-inspired cocktail bar with a vibrant atmosphere. Great spot for a happy hour cocktail (Mon - Fri, 4 - 5pm). I highly recommend the halloumi, panzanella salad and the beef short ribs.

Top shop: Great breakfast and lunch spot! Must haves are the Acai bowl, Breakfast burger and the Shop Burger.

Beach Byron Bay: You can either eat at the restaurant and take in the beautiful view or just grab a picnic table and have takeaway from their Kiosk. From the Kiosk I suggest the bacon & egg rolls (with a hashbrown) and they have great coffee & pastries.

The Beach Hotel: The iconic beachfront pub offers stunning ocean views, live music, and a relaxed atmosphere. It‘s a perfect for sundowns.

Treehouse on Belongil: A laid-back bar with live music, great cocktails, and a beachy atmosphere.

Eat & Drink: Surrounding Area

The Hut: Lunch in Possum Creek from Friday - Sunday. Mediterranean inspired just 10 mins drive away. Recommend ordering the crab pasta if they have it on the menu, it’s delicious. Closed during the winter months so check opening dates.

Doma: Take a scenic drive to Federal for yummy sushi and a quaint town exploration. Experience the tranquility of the hinterland while enjoying delicious Japanese cuisine.

Eltham Hotel: Nestled in the scenic Byron hinterland, the Eltham is a go-to spot for a relaxed and charming pub experience. Enjoy an afternoon drink, a delicious meal, and soak in the live music.

Shelter Lennox: A beloved coastal spot, offering produce-driven plates from breakfast to dinner. It's right on the beach, has friendly service and a great menu, perfect if you want to explore the area.

Old Maids: Old-school burger joint with smoothies and great coffee. Ethically sourced meat and plant-based options all shine, perfect stop after a morning at the beach.

Cape Byron Distillery (Brookies Gin): Visit the Cellar Door for a gin tasting or go on their Rainforest and Distillery Tour. Definitely try their slow gin with local botanicals.

Husk Distillery: You can book a tour, a tasting or grab a picnic rug and relax on the lawn while enjoying one of their beautiful seasonal drinks. A 45 minute drive north from Carinya.

Hotel Brunswick: A picturesque 20-minute drive from Carinya leads you to Hotel Brunswick. Enjoy its inviting beer garden near the water's edge. While there, take a stroll through the charming town of Brunswick Heads.

Freda’s Field: Enjoy a leisurely long lunch at Freda's Field. Located in a picturesque setting, offering a seasonal set menu that’s for a perfect couples or group outing. You need to book in advance for this one.

Saint Maries: Pizza in Brunswick Heads, has a fun atmosphere and great food. Would recommend the Saint Verde a delicious vegan pizza (even for non vegans). Salty Sally & Hot Sally also both a great choice.

Pipit Restaurant: Named Australia’s Regional Restaurant of the Year in 2020, located in Pottsville. It’s a set menu (pretty expensive) and you’ll need a few hours but it’s won all its awards for a reason. Bookings a must.

Nature's Playground: Beaches, Walks, and Rides You Must Explore

Wategos Beach: If pristine beauty and serene waters are your vibe, Wategos is your spot. It's a quieter alternative to Main Beach, offering plenty of space for picnics and beach games.

Clarkes Beach: It boasts gentle waves and a laid-back atmosphere. Lifesavers are there during peak holiday periods & parking can be found at Clarks Beach Park or surrounding streets.

Broken Head Beach: Is one of Byron’s best-kept secrets. Located south of Byron, it is often uncrowded, even in the middle of summer. The beach is surrounded by a reserve filled with rainforest-clad ridges and walking tracks weave through the reserve.

Northern Rivers Rail Trail: The first 24 kms of the Rail Trail is now open, linking Murwillumbah to Crabbes Creek. Whether you feel like taking a leisurely stroll or a family bike ride, this trail is a great way to explore the Tweed region.

Cape Byron Lighthouse: Lots of places to walk from to view it. We love starting at the Beach Cafe and walking along the path past the Pass & Wategos. Round trip will take you about an hour. You can always just drive up to the top if you prefer, but there is limited parking.

Killen Falls (Tintenbar): A short 15-minute drive away, a hidden gem with a beautiful swimming hole. Keep in mind that it can get quite busy during the peak summer months, which can make parking a bit of a challenge.

Minyon Falls: For a natural adventure, visit the falls in Nightcap National Park. A 40-minute drive away, it has both short and long hike options. A short hike takes you to the falls lookout offering stunning views of the waterfall and rainforest. Parts of the track are closed due to flooding so check with National Park before visiting.

Protestor Falls: 1 hour drive away it has nice walks and you could stop by Eltham Hotel Pub on the way back.

Nagnata: For those seeking cult fashion and lifestyle pieces, Nagnata is the destination of choice. Their workout wear is adored by locals and can now be found at their store in Jonson Lane, Byron Bay.

Pack Gallery Bangalow: Art enthusiasts will appreciate the boutique art gallery, showcasing a talent of local artists.

McTavish: In the world of Australian surfboards, Bob McTavish is a legend. Visit their flagship store and enjoy a coffee pit-stop while you're in the Byron Bay industrial estate.

Little Company: Located in Byron Bay's industrial estate. After your visit, you'll emerge feeling entirely refreshed and renewed. The Remedy Facial is an absolute must-try.

Comma: As soon as you step through the doors of Comma in Byron Bay, a sense of calm washes over you. This welcoming haven provides holistic massages treatments.
